Shopify Notes

What Matters Most in Shopify

Shopify is the closest source of commercial truth for the storefront.

Focus on:

  • revenue by product and category
  • add-to-cart and cart behavior where available
  • checkout completion
  • average order value
  • discount use
  • new versus returning customer behavior
  • repeat purchase rate
  • refund or return-related signals when relevant

What We Look For

  • products with strong traffic but weak commercial conversion
  • baskets that stall below free-shipping threshold
  • categories with weak AOV despite strong product interest
  • low repeat purchase rate after first order
  • offer structures that may confuse or suppress margin

What We Avoid

  • treating storewide sales movement as enough explanation
  • reviewing product performance with no funnel context
  • celebrating order spikes without checking profitability or traffic quality

Shopify should anchor the team in revenue truth, not vanity movement.
